Southcoast Nationals 2007

Everheard of a place called Moruya? No? Well neither had we until this weekend past and honestly didn't think for a second that an event held in such a small town could compete with the Springnats and Easternats events. We could not have been more wrong, 430+ cars attended from a huge showing of top quality show cars to beaters ready to blast their tyres to pieces. Incase you're still wondering where Moruya is, it's about 4hours south of Sydney right on the coast with a population of ~15,000.

Burnouts

Saturdays burnouts turned into quite a spectacular and expensive barbeque of engines. By far the most spectacular fire was xpiggy. With flames engulfing the entire front end of this vn commodore and reaching twice the height of the roof!

Check out the sequence of xpiggy’s flames of glory!

Toastr(pictured above) was back and now sports a 6/71 blower which the driver sits on, talk about a madman.

Of all the burnouts, the blown 57 Chevy pictured above was probably one of the more unexpected. It’s immaculate Chev and to see him bring it out on the track was a pretty awesome sight.

Congrats to Daloud for taking out the 6 cylinder the burnout comp in his Ford Fairmont Ghia.

Driving Events

The reason most enter events such as Southcoast Nationals is to give their engine a good thorough cleanout at WOT. So driving events such as the 180 turn, garage go to whoa were extremely popular at Southcoast.

In the U-turn event, drivers had to race from the starting line flatout to a witches hat (50metres away) turn around as quickly as possible and stop the front wheels on the start line.

After an absolutely brilliant weekend, I can tell you that next year we shall certainly be returning to Moruya. A hugely successful show, all credit goes to Lee for creating such a fantastic and entertaining show.
