Well there are XPs and then there is Scott McDiarmid’s AXP-066. AJ and myself both agreed that Scott’s 4 door XP has to be one of the best presented XPs that we have seen up close and personal. This 1966 model has had a heart pumping 347 cube 540hp stroker jammed into her tiny little engine bay, with no attention to detail spared.
Every part on this XP osses quailty from the chrome work, the RRS suspention to the detail in the imaculate engine bay. AXP-066 has not just been built to look absolutly gorgeous but to perform as well. When the key is turned and the angry 347 ci stroker awakens with an ear pounding rumble you know this beautiful blue classic means bussiness.
The futher you look into the detail on Scotts XP the more you will find. Like the XK dash that has been neatly tucked into the cabin complete with Blue LED lighting. Right through to the
RRS Suspension package that has been grafted to the undercarriage. A complete RRS coversion has been performed with Rack and Pinion steering complete with coil over front suspension and 3 spot RRS calipers.
…in the deep end of the track at about 110mph i hit reverse …
“in the deep end of the track at about 110mph i hit reverse, the car stalled I ended up on two bloody wheels and heading for the wall real fast. Some how at the last second i got her back under control and was in a dessparate need to change my underwear”.
.. After Scotts near wall kissing eposide the car continued to run another 7 or 8 passes finally running his PB 11.1 @ 124mph on 235 razor blade street tyres..
“On the day of going to look at the XP, I was at the pub with a 5 mates. We piled into the back of a panel van and away we went not long after we are driving around Tullamarine lost and in need for a rest stop. So we found the next paddock all piled out then one of the boys yelled out hey look at that blue beauty. That was that, I found her and took it home not long after”.
“I really like cruising the car with a few other mates it make all the hard work worth while. In association with Southern Street Machiners we try to always attend the KNOX Cruise Night held from October to April every second Tuesday. Last year we raised $9500 for the EACH Comunity Suport Group that helps under privledged kids in Victoria”
What’s Next? “Keep driving, KeepCruising and most of all keep away from those wall’s”.
