Default what sort of engine do you prefer?

i was reading the new Extreme mag and thought i might create a little poll, looking to see what MCF members prefer in regards to engines, i will stay away from Ford, Chev or Hemi and more on the lines of do you like carby? fuel injected? turbo? supercharged? or just plain NA? if u want let us know what and why!

i have 2 older brothers (6 & 8 years older) growing up 1 had a 302ci V8 the other a rotary, both were good stout cars but i always loved the V8's more, though still have a soft spot for a rotor. back then you couldn't beat the roar of a big carbied V8.

now that im getting older (but not so much wiser) my tastes have changed, have gone from the lion roar of a big V8 to the more cat like purr of a fuel injected V8, add a couple of hairdryers to the engine and it's the perfect combo

hi i chose them all i couldent choose but for driving turbos cant be beaten for sound there is nothing like a n/a carbie v8 or 265 with big cams and for max power fuel injection is the best

but big superchaged cars always get my heart beating at near the same rpm or bpm lol

Diesel didn't cross my mind, though if i member correctly there are some 6-sec Diesel cars in the states.

i was going to put NOS i thought i might leave it to street legal. if sum1 prefers NOS let us know.

also i was going to suggest members let us know what is your dream engine combo?

i was talking to some guys at the nats that have a biodiesel dragster its a 6cyl cummins 5.7 bored out to 6lits and has a comp ratio of 15:1 and has a 100psi of boost first one in aus and will be ready for the strip in six months

dream combo would be a 500-700ci big block by dart the bigchife to be exact with two big "massive" turbos and a 10/71 on top probly bigger like 12/71 or higher

the diesel engine sounds crazy, cant wait to see it out there.

i know there is a small block V8 twin-turbo with 8/71 helix supercharger and a massive carbon fibre injector hat being done this year. the owner and engine builder are trying to work out if it can be done to actually work

Its a Cummins 6BT, which is 5.9litres, compound turbocharged.
Being built in Melbourne and will run on 100% biodiesel.
The guy who owns it is in the defence force and spends alot of time on tours in Afghanistan.
Alot of the technology has come from the states where they are getting some serious numbers from them, similar setups are used in tractor pulling in europe.

it seems that way. take for instance Tuff Street at the Summernats this year, i think the first 4 cars were all blown. last year my brother was runner-up the car was making decent power around 600hp@atw on low boost, it is fully registered, engineered and driven on the street almost daily, he was told it didn't win because it has no visual effect. which i find funny because in the Tuff Street rules it states cars must be registered, steet driven etc, yet u see 400+ci blown cars, with them hanging 1m out of the bonnet what state is that legal in? yeah it looks great but so does a set of hairdryers on a V8 all engineered to fit under the bonnet, it just doesn't have the WOW factor until u look underneath

I love the sound of blown cars and at the same time, I love the sound of a turbo spooling up.

To be perfectly honest, the only sound I don't like out of any modified type of car is a rotary.

I don't hate them, appreciate and respect their power but the sound drives me nuts.

Nothing beats the sound of a healthy NA 8 on the road.
