Well the rents are giving me some money to spend on my vl and I have some money to spend myself. So i'm gonna have some fun and +t it. Just wondering a few things.
What is a good turbo for a vl, can I rear mount the turbo without need for an intercooler (will explain more about this if needed), and what is the best head to use? I've been told that a 25de head is the best to use but that was just information given to me by some m8s who are only 17-18 lol Oh and I just remembered, do I have to replace the head bolts everytime I take the head off? I heard that the head bolts on rb30s can only be stretched once |

Hi,
I'm not a 'wiz' so only use my advice as a guide. I'm guessing you want to rear mount the turbo because you wanna hide it from the law. You'd fit an intercooler to cool air being fed into the turbo period. I personally wouldnt bother with a rear mounted turbo as your gonna have to spend alot more in piping and getting the oil and/or water lines there. If you havent got a factory turbo motor then you may have to do a few fiddly things just to make it accept the turbo (manifold, oil line as a start). When you say whats the best head to use, if you have the money you would go for an rb26 twin cam head, but to adapy this it would need to spend some time at a machine shop as not all the oil galleries and water jackets line up perfectly. But if you want the cheap way out and still have an upgraded head, you can use an N/A rb20 head. Still twin cam and it BOLTS ON bolt for bolt no changing anything. As a general rule i dont think you need to change head bolts every time you take the head off. Daniel |
