Default locked diff

Does anybody have a locked diff in their everyday driver?

I took the fairlane for a drive today, light rain just before i left and was good fun with the 9 inch and mini spool.

I heard that having a spool chewed tyres, how bad does it wear the tyres.

i have a locker in the ute but the fun out weighs the cost of tyres. if you drive it everywhere sometimes the shudder going slow round corners can get annoying.

I had a locker in my old VP Ute which I drove daily, and it was fine. But as NO.TOY said, slow turning into carpark spaces can get a bit rough, so doing it every day, can be annoying if you worry about it. I also have a spool in the VH and drove it every day, and it was never a problem.

My Cortina has a locker but i have never really driven it on the road, Took the fairlane out to city mufflers to get the exhuast modified ( didnt fit over the nine inch.) and it was damp still in places but not nearly as scary as i thought.

Thanks for the comments and will see how it cruises on down to Moruya on the weekend.

i was interested in this as i have always had LSD and never a locker. Still waiting on my diff but i went for a full spool this time. Not that the car will see many tight turn into carparks but good to hear that they are not to bad

Having a spool or locked diff certainly is fun on the streets, but keep in mind that if you ever have an accident as a result of it, and the authorities find out, you'll be liable and probably without any insurance either.
Dont mean to be negative, just a heads-up.

But at the end of the day its no-where near as annoying as a full manualised auto gearbox.........
