that usually happens when your running the engine too rich and washing the bores, it can also be a leaky carby/fuel injector as when you turn the engine off it can leak down past an open valve and past the piston rings, gotta be careful mate cause fuel will destroy you oil pretty quickly(will loose its lubricating performance) or it could just be blow-by on ya piston rings, easy to tell just get a comp tester to check that one mate

Fuel pressure is set at 6 psi.
Idle's at 800rpm
The carbie has just been rebuilded.
The manifold is ported, polished same to the head.
The head has only done not even 500km since rebuild.
The block has only done 16,000km.

Considering that 6psi can support 500hp i'd be looking at lowering that for a start and also fuel maybe leaking in after the engine has switched off does it have a fuel solenoid on it to stop such an event from happening .

Yes it has a fuel idle solenoid.
Compersion is preaty much all the same.
Maybe 4 psi-5psi fuel pressure might work.
Just waiting for a dyno tune to be put in (3 week's) so it can get sorted.
Thank's for all the help.

Reason I ask is I have seen mechanical pumps leak fuel into the sump, its fairly common on 308's.
yeah, tell me about it!!

The easiest way for this to happen is for the rings around the tops of the pistons to be cracked (ie., broken) and gasoline will leak past them into the oil pan. If that's the cause, it's time to re-mortgage the house. It only takes one ring on one piston, too. Have a compression test done on the cylinders to see if this is it. With the help of a friend and a compression tester (a pressure gauge basically) that'll cost you about $50, you can do this test your self.
