Default Adaptor plate

Hi Fat 245,

I am running a similar adaptor plate (older castlemaine) with mixed results.

Just a few tips, make sure the spigot bush is fully engaged in the crank. (mine needed some machining to fit properly) This almost killed the converter as it wasnt running true. Spun the bolts off and wrecked the flexplate.

Check the runnout on the coverter after installation.

My crank spacer also needed machining to fit properly.

I also needed to chop part of the "ear" off near the starter so that everything would fit.

Check the starter for alignment and clearance. There are heaps of different starter and ring gear combos behind Hemi's so make sure you double check everything.

Also my custom extractors were useless and had to get new pipes made in the car.

After spending additional $$$ on the conversion. The thing runs very well behind a fairly worked 274 Hemi 4bbl.

But honestly if I was doing it over I would have used an "S block" that has the 904/727 bolt pattern.

Sorry to sound so negative but I'd hate to see someone go through the trouble I did.

Good luck.

Adam

Hi Cobra,

Yes I am aware of the exhaust clearance and starter issues.

During the time i was speaking to the guys at Castlemain, they said they fixed the older issues with the clearancing of the Spigot Bush and Spacer.

I have an MSD Mini Starter.

274 Aye? that a 4" Bore?

Fair enough, I'd still check the converter run-out after you install everything. Just to be sure.

274ci is +60thou pretty sure 4inch bore puts you up around 280+ cubes.

The small starter should help with the clearance.

Cheers

Convertor Runout is going to be checked, as it is a step in the instructions heheheh

its going to be an interesting conversion, cause at the same time. Im modding the carby and manifold to be mounted east west to help with fuel distribution and even out Cylinders 3 & 4
