hey guys a bit new to all this thought id get involved, ive got a 1980 te gemini, with a tough 253 in the works, hope it keeps you guys interested
As for the car itself i told some fellas i work with i wanted to build a burnout car, one mentioned a gemini so i thought aww yeh could be good, then it grew on me, i said to him do you know of one? one thing led to another. We went out to his inlaws some kind of horse farm and here is this gemini with 4ft of grass around very straight body so i took it for a bottle of **** and 100 bucks i thought i got a good deal still with running gear and running we got it after sitting for 12 months. got he wb and trailer in tow and home it came, its current condition is gutted interior boot minus 1/4's and bonnet in primer you can imagine the rest of the process. the drive train ive got planned is a high comp 253, being in engine reco machining and part costs arent much of an issue. 253? you may ask...........well ITS253 TUF253 AGROVB have all inspired me to be different and try an underdog. After doing a bit of research into commodore cup, AMCA engine specs and a wonderful article on a in depth 253 build has given me a good base to build from. so in the heart of underdog status the bottom end is stock stroke and rods, and im using commodore cup flat top pistons...pritty straight forward. ive gone with crow cam 5675 which is in the upwards rpm range. Doing 6500 at 5kmph, mid range torque isnt what im building for. the heads are recieving o/size valves y/t rockers big springs porting and a chamber volume around the 48 to 50 cc department to achieve my required comp. gearbox is trimatic which ive got 2 of so if i kill one ive got another waiting just gonna weld the stock diff until it ****s itself, then got a hilux diff to replace it. fuel system is a 40ltr foam filled fuel cell twin vl turb pumps surge tank holley blue reg ill post photos and more info soon hope your interested cheers |
